Narrowly Escaping Tragedy: How a Missed Flight Saved Lives in the Brazilian Plane Crash

In a tragic turn of events, a Voepass flight bound for Guarulhos, São Paulo, crashed, claiming the lives of all 62 people on board. However, amidst the heartbreak, there are stories of a few individuals who narrowly escaped this disaster by missing the ill-fated flight.

One such individual, Adriano Assis, a resident of Rio de Janeiro, recounted his close call to Brazilian media. Due to a mix-up at the airport, Assis initially attempted to check in with the wrong airline, Latam, only to realize too late that his booking was with Voepass. Despite his efforts to board, airline staff denied him entry, a decision that ultimately saved his life. Assis expressed both frustration and gratitude, acknowledging that the staff member “did his job” and, in doing so, unwittingly saved his life.

Assis wasn’t alone in this fortunate twist of fate. Several other passengers made the same mistake, waiting at the wrong counter and missing the flight. Their stories have become poignant reminders of how close they came to being part of the tragic accident.

As investigators work to determine the cause of the crash, these stories of narrowly averted disaster bring a glimmer of relief in the shadow of a national tragedy.
